Anime: The Novel! ...Day 1.5: Wii
Play Later it was
supposed to be Reuben and Dan playing the Wii. Except they weren’t
here yet, so the fans played against each other. I love Dan as much as
the next Vergil fangirl. He has one of the sexiest voices in the world
and is highly distracting whilst fighting in DMC3. But Dante is still
King, and the closest you can get to meeting his embodiment in the
waking world is Reuben. That’s who I came here to kiss... err, see.
^_^;; I changed into my favorite shirt – black with serpentine dragons
– to look good for Reuben in case I saw an opening to approach him
that night. Dan was barely
registering in my head at the time, which is why when CaT tapped me
excitedly saying “Look! Look! It’s Dan!!” My first thoughts were huh?...who? where?....... waaait, that’s not Reuben. Dan entered
the room, picked up a Wii controller, and got down to business. There
were several cameras taping, CaT and another one of our cameramen among
them. I still couldn’t resist recording some of it on my relatively
crappy digicam. Dan playing Wii
Baseball: And Wii boxing: Reuben’s
plane was delayed, so nobody really knew when he’d show up. I had no
idea how I would react to seeing him in person and brainstorming the
possibilities frightened me. I heard rumors that he has been known to
cosplay, and have seen video of him dressed as Dante. If he came in
costume I would probably die on the spot. Suddenly he just walked into
the room (thankfully in jeans, flannel, and a baseball cap) before I
could even get off a proper jaw drop, let alone grab my camera. Reuben,
the voice and motion of Dante himself! He snuck up on Dan and jumped him
from behind. It was then that my jaw finally came down. All I remember
thinking was ....I hope CaT got
that on tape! Here’s Reuben

Reuben playing Wii Tennis! Up till now
Reuben and Dan were playing against ordinary fans, but soon it came time
for them to play against each other. The crowd of fans was told to pick
a side and cheer them on. About 3/4ths flocked to Vergil, but I
naturally stayed loyal to Dante. We all watched Reuben and Dan make
blue-eyes, silver-haired Mii avatars. They were going to spell
Vergil’s name with an “i” but the crowd protested and they changed
it back to “e.” And then the boxing match was ON, baby! Dante versus
Vergil – booyah! For all the
support he was getting, Dan wasn’t doing too hot. At one point when he
was doing uppercuts he got frustrated and playfully punched towards
Reuben instead of the screen. It was adorable! ^_^ Long story
short, Reuben won! WOOHOO!! One thing I noticed about Reuben and Dan is that though Reuben definitely alters his voice to play Dante, Dan always sounds like Vergil. This is incredibly sexy and incredibly disconcerting at the same time. I am far too used to fleeing in terror from Vergil in DMC3. DISCLAIMER: if anybody doesn't want these pics or
